II. New product to be announced in Florida

In our Florida Seminar April 1-3 we will be announcing a new product which can build models for science and business as well as for trading. The models it builds can be used standalone or in conjunction with NeuroShell Trader Professional or DayTrader Professional, and they are capable of investigating chaotic time series. More details will be available in our April newsletter.

III. Editorial Comments by Steve Ward, CEO

1. Quote.com is baaaaack. Actually, they never went away; we just took all mention of them off of our website. We did that because when eSignal purchased Quote.com some time ago they announced that QC would cease being a data source, at least for third party software like NeuroShell. We didn’t want to encourage new DayTrader users to subscribe to a data feed that was not long for the world. However, recently eSignal sources have told us that current plans do not call for the demise of this first data feed that NeuroShell ever supported. Hopefully the eSignal ownership will inject some long needed quality into the data. As of this writing, Qcharts gets data from either the Quote.com “Continuum” servers, or the eSignal servers. NeuroShell itself reads only the Continuum servers when “Quote.com Qcharts” is selected in NeuroShell.

2. Florida Seminar. There are still seats available for the Seminar. Remember, we are not planning another one this year, so this is your last chance to get a big jump on your understanding of trading with NeuroShell.

3. My trading tip of the month. I seem to recall hearing about some software that builds several models and then lets you switch between them depending on which one did well lately. Frankly, I do that a lot with NeuroShell. I build three or four models on the same chart, and I hide all but one. Then I plot the equity curves for all of them in different colors in the same sub-chart, using just line style instead of the default area style. (In example 18, you can see two equity curves on the same sub-chart, one in line style and the other in area style.) That way on any given day you can see which one is performing the best. If one equity curve shows that model is doing best lately, then I switch to displaying only that one and trade it that day.

4. The new product. For the last several years, a large part of our effort has gone into NeuroShell Trader and add-ons, except for the new releases of AI Trilogy and NeuroShell 2. The reasons for that were economic, because traders tend to be very different than scientists. Scientists get accustomed to their software and don’t like to upgrade, much less switch. Our database is full of NeuroShell 2 users who haven’t upgraded their versions in 10 years, and are wary of learning the AI Trilogy! Traders, on the other hand, have a better understanding that you have to spend money to make money, and they always want the latest stuff. The new product (article II above) started as a science application a little over 10 years ago, but we never brought it to the market. Last year we decided to do that when we realized with a few additions, it was a great product for traders as well. So now, happily, we will have a product that can be sold to both types of researchers. You’ll be glad to know that it doesn’t have NeuroShell in its name.

IV. One way to stop this newsletter

It is really easy. Just change your email address and don’t tell us.
