IQFeed NOTICE: Canadian Equity and Bond Symbology changes

Canadian Equity and Bond Symbology changes

In order to more closely align with a new symbology from the TSX exchange, we will be making the following changes to Canadian equity symbols:

  • Any symbol that currently ends in .U will now end in .UN
  • Any symbol that currently ends in .R will now end in .RT
  • Any symbol that currently ends in .US will now end in .U
  • Any symbol that currently ends in .SR will now end in .R

There are currently 6 symbol collisions that can occur during this change and you might need to manually adjust any historical data you currently have saved to account for this. In each of the following cases, the current symbols are listed below and the symbol ending in .U will reference the symbol ending in .US after the change has been made.

  • C.FAY.U – FIRST ASSET YIELD OPPORTUNITY
  • C.FAY.US – FIRST ASSET YLD OPP TRUST
  • C.GTU.U – CENTRAL GOLD-TRUST
  • C.GTU.US – CENTRAL GOLD-TRUST
  • C.ISL.U – ING FLOATING RATE SENIOR LOAN
  • C.ISL.US – ING FLOATING RATE SENIOR LOAN
  • C.OUY.U – O’LEARY U.S. STRAT YIELD ADV F
  • C.OUY.US – O’LEARY US STRAT YIELD ADV FUN
  • C.SBT.U – SILVER BULLION TRUST UNITS
  • C.SBT.US – SILVER BULLION TRUST
  • C.SIA.U – SKYLON INTL ADVANTAGE YIELD TR
  • C.SIA.US – SKYLON INTL ADVANTAGE YIELD TR

We will also be taking the opportunity to correct a longstanding symbology issue with bond symbols in IQFeed that is causing inconsistencies in the symbology. This change will add an extra dot between the root symbol and any suffix/class identifier. For example:


Old Symbol     New Symbol
TAKA.CB        TAK.A.CB
SXNA.CB        SXN.A.CB
BRKB.17A.CB    BRK.B.17A.CB
CUSA14.CB      CUS.A14.CB
MOGA15.CB      MOG.A15.CB

Both of these changes are currently scheduled to be put into production on the weekend of July 20th.
