Dragging and Dropping

Dragging and dropping may be used to rearrange items on your chart. This can be very useful when trying to compare two items in your chart.

  1. Select a data series to drag and drop by clicking and holding the mouse button while the cursor is over the corresponding line or legend text.
  2. With the mouse button depressed, ‘drag‘ the cursor to the desired ‘drop‘ location and release the mouse button.

Notes:

  • The drop location is indicated by a dotted rectangle.
  • To move the data series into an existing subgraph, position the mouse so a large dotted rectangle is located over the destination subgraph.
  • To move the data series to a new subgraph, position the mouse so a small dotted rectangle is located at the insertion point above or below an existing subgraph.

Troubleshooting:

  • You must make sure the mouse cursor has changed to a hand before clicking on the line or legend text. If the cursor is still an arrow or a cross hair, the selection will not occur. If you are selecting a line on the chart, it is best to position the cursor over a data point instead of the portion of the line connecting two data points.
