I. ChaosHunter 2.3 available

If you own ChaosHunter 2.1 through any of the 2.3 betas, you can download the final release 2.3 free from ward.net using your 2.1 serial number. There have been a number of small improvements since 2.1 including faster optimization, and the ability to build trading models more compatible with running on TradeStation (a registered trademark of TradeStation Securities) and some other platforms. It also allows multiples instances of ChaosHunter to run on the same computer even if they are not all working on the same problem. (Of course ChaosHunter already allows you to run it simultaneously on multiple computers you own and operate).

II. Technical support for release 5 ending soon

Support for NeuroShell Trader release 5 will terminate at the end of this year. If you want to continue getting assistance from us, you should begin thinking about updating to release 6. The cost is only $250 for Professional users, and $390 for DayTrader Professional users. We are already distributing release 6.1, and 6.2 betas are available. Releases 6.2, 6.3 etc are all free updates once you own release 6. The online order form to update to release 6 (including Power User upgrade) can be found here:

ward.net/60.asp

With all the versions, it can be confusing, so please feel free to call sales at 301-662-7950 and we’ll place the order for you.

The best place to find an overview of release 6 changes is in our January 2011 newsletter, which is in the Newsletters section of ward.net. NeuroShell 6 is installed in a different folder than NeuroShell 5, and you can still run NeuroShell 5.8 if you like using your NeuroShell 6 serial number and password. The complete set of release 6 videos can be viewed online:

III. Commentary by Steve Ward, CEO

1. NeuroShell review. Watch your Technical Analysis of Stocks and Commodities magazine for a review of NeuroShell 6 in an upcoming issue. If you aren’t a subscriber of the magazine, you should consider it. Each month there are many trading ideas in its pages. The TASC tips that we post each month on ward.net from the magazine will mean a lot more to you if you can read the originating articles.

2. Batch processing. Speaking of NeuroShell 6, one of the least known features of the Power User versions is the ability to optimize and backtest (even with multiple walkforwards) multiple trading strategy templates on multiple instruments in one continuous process. Those of you that have updated to release 6 already can watch the video to see how the process works. It is the very last video called “Multiple Template Optimization and Backtesting”. Others can view it here:

The way I find this feature useful is by saving all my good strategies, even if they stop making money after a time. Then on the weekend I can re-backtest them all on the latest data and the latest symbols of interest, leaving me free while the computer does all the work.

IV. Coming soon – PFGBest Data Feed

We are in the final stages of testing a data feed for NeuroShell which PFGBest has written. This will mean if you have a trading account with PFGBest, you can not only send trades to them using NeuroShell, but load NeuroShell with realtime data as well at no cost.
