Sometimes Quote.com and others send out some obviously bad data points. Often, the data stream is corrected automatically within a minute or two as the servers resend the data. However, sometimes that doesn’t happen but there are ways to correct the bad data.
There is, of course, the built-in NeuroShell feature that allows you to correct bad data points. Just make sure the close legend is displayed on your chart and double click it to get to that feature. However, using that method assumes that you already know what the correct values should be.
Another method that often works is to force the data feed interface to reload the data. If the data was corrected but not resent, or if the bad data came from one server and you can connect to a different one, this method is effective. All you have to do is erase the data files relating to the ticker symbol and bar size that has the problem.
To erase the data, go to the Tools -> Data Sources -> Server tab and look for the button called “Manage real time files”. The names of files are easily recognizable, and you can delete the ones with bad data, which will force them to re-read the data next time the chart is loaded.
If the bad data is from Quote.com, before you restart NeuroShell you might want to force Quote.com to go to a different server. You can run our “pinger” program to rearrange the server list (see the tip on this site called “Some relief from Quote.com server outages”) and see if that gives you a different server, which it probably will if you haven’t run the pinger recently.
Then bring up NeuroShell and reload your chart. The data will reload and (hopefully) be corrected!
