We have had reports of problems with AVG interfering with IBFeed, and we feel there is a possibility it could interfer with other programs as well if you are not careful. It appears that their newer versions identify any software that decrypts itself as being a virus via their heuristics.
One person having a problem getting IBFeed to run reported they had even turned off all the AVG scanning of files, thinking that as long as AVG didn’t scan and find IBFeed files, it wouldn’t be interfering with IBFeed. However that was not the case. They reported:
“AVG has a component called Resident Shield Component. This component ‘scans files as they are opened and if a threat is found, it forbids its activation.’ Apparently AVG wasn’t allowing the IBFeed to activate and also wasn’t giving any pop-ups or notification to let me know it was doing so. Once I added the entire ‘C:\NeuroShell Trader 5\Servers’ directory to the ‘Resident Shield Exceptions’, IBFeed started working properly.”
