I. San Francisco Trader Seminar?

We’ve elected to postpone the next NeuroShell Trader seminar at least until the fall of 2003. We received only a small number of replies in response to the survey in the last month’s newsletter. We understand that a reluctance to commit to traveling to a seminar was attributable to the recent talk of war and terrorism in the United States. We share that concern.

In making our decision, we even used our native neural nets. From past experience we have learned that seminars are more successful when they include a critical mass of NeuroShell Trader users. Many attendees say they learn as much from the other attendees as they do from the formal sessions.

Waiting also means that release 4.0 of the NeuroShell Trader will be out and we can incorporate all of the new features in the seminar. We’re also planning a session dedicated to Trader add-ons.

II. New AI College session started

We have just started a new session of the online AI College Advanced Course for the NeuroShell Trader Professional and DayTrader Professional. If you’ve been wondering how you can increase your skills and knowledge, here’s the chance to learn from Steve Ward. You take this course on any computer connected to the Internet, at home or at the office, ANY TIME you desire. You won’t even need a high speed line. The lecture slides come from the Internet, and Steve’s lecture comes from audio clips we’ll send you on a CD. There are video clips too for some of the lessons. The cost is only $670 + shipping. You’ll have 45 days from when you start to complete, or the end of April, whichever comes first.

For more information, a sample audio clip, and an agenda, browse www.aicollege.com. If you’d like to talk to us about the course, call us at 301-662-7950.

IV. Bollinger declares now is best possible world for technical traders

Talk of war with Iraq coupled with the bear market since 1998 have led to a series of declining market numbers, yet world recognized trader John Bollinger calls this period “the best of all possible worlds” for a technical trader. His remarks appeared in the April 2003 issue of Active Trader magazine in an article written by Mark Etzkorn. In the article Bollinger postulates that the current consolidation period calls for more market timing than the previously successful buy and hold strategy of the bull market. He adds that classic indicators such as “the advance-decline line, new highs/new lows, and MACD, moving averages, and overbought-oversold indicators work very well in this type of environment.” Bollinger describes how he combines his Bollinger Bands with volume indicators such as On Balance Volume to create successful trading systems. These strategies are easy to reproduce in the NeuroShell Trader and users with the professional versions have the advantage of being able to optimize indicator parameters to further increase the number of winning traders.
