III. Advanced Course for the NeuroShell Trader Professional

In April we announced the first online course from American Web Intelligence, an Advanced Course for the NeuroShell Trader Professional and DayTrader Professional, taught by Steve Ward. The course has now started and we are pleased that so many of you have signed up already, and that so far all responses are positive. Here are some of the first unsolicited responses we received:

“I just finished the “Advanced Course for the NeuroShell Trader Series”. It was very well done and valuable to get your insights to the program. Nothing compares to the insights that can be gained from time spent with hands-on developers and expert users of an advanced program such as NeuroShell Trader.”

“As a program manager for a well known Fortune 100 company, I greatly appreciate the efforts and explanations that went into the NeuroShell Trader program and the training CD.”

Sincerely,
Jeffrey Smith

“The AI College is a huge help to understand the subtleties of a superb tool. It was well thought out, extremely informative, and superbly presented. That’s a fact, Jack!”

“Thanks and best wishes for continued success.”

Ed Condon

IV. New release of NeuroShell Trader now available

Release 3.3 is now available for download from www.ward.net, still for free. Prices for CDs are now a little higher. If you would like the install on CD, the cost is $50 plus shipping. A new data CD with daily data through June 1, 2001 is now separate and is also available for $50.

Release 3.3 is primarily a maintenance release. However the following new features have been added:

A. Trading Strategies now display a dashed line for all entry and exit limit orders. The dashed line is drawn from just right of the current bar to just left of the future bar for which the limit order is active. The line is drawn at the price level for which the limit order should be placed.

B. Trading Strategies now display a solid line for all entry and exit stop orders. The solid line is drawn from just right of the current bar to just left of the future bar for which the stop order is active. The line is drawn at the price level for which the stop order should be placed.

C. Quote.com’s latest Continuumclient.DLL is now installed. NOTE: Quote.com’s latest DLL will disconnect your connection if another user tries to logon to a Quote.com server using the same Name and Password. Please verify that no one else is using your Quote.com account if you experience substantially more disconnects than you had with previous releases.

V. Student thesis uses NeuroShell to profile web sites

Ryan MacDonald and his thesis supervisor, Dr. Daniel L. Silver, of Acadia University in Nova Scotia, have finished a groundbreaking project in which they have taught neural nets to profile the Internet. We were quite impressed at the level of this work, which was only Ryan’s bachelor’s thesis! Ryan has written a condensed paper from his thesis that can be read by visiting www.wardsystems.com where there’s currently a lead about the story on the home page.

If you’ve written a paper in which you used NeuroShell or GeneHunter, we’d love to see a copy!

VI. Price increase coming

The cost of GeneHunter, NeuroShell Predictor, NeuroShell Classifier, NeuroShell 2, and NeuroShell Runtime Server will each increase by $50 on October 1, 2001. If you were thinking of purchasing any of these products, now is the time to do it and save $50.

After the price increase, those who take delivery of these products by Internet download or email will receive a $50 discount, effectively nullifying the price increase. Of course, for internet delivery, there will also be no shipping charge.

Replacement CDs for all of our products are now $50 pluss shipping.

VII. Turning your neural net inside out!

We have received several similar sales queries recently. A customer has heard about our neural net software and wants to use it to make a prediction. The conversation generally centers around the TurboProp 2 and genetic training methods in NeuroShell Predictor and Classifier. Later in the conversation, the customer mentions that not only does he/she want to make a prediction for the quality of the output of a manufacturing process, for example, but also wants to tweak the elements of the manufacturing process to produce a product with specific qualities. The customer is usually surprised to hear that our software can help with that part of the problem as well. We explain that GeneHunter can be used to find the best settings for the manufacturing process based on forecasts produced by NeuroShell Predictor. For more information, check out the description of AI Trilogy on www.wardsystems.com.
